Page vs. List[Hlela umthombo]
To incorporate this page into the ZU WP, several points to consider:
- Should not all your draft page names begin with "List of..."? Particularly in light of a page with the identical name...
- Suggested list page name: List of Presidents of the Republic of South Africa = Uhlu lwabaongameli baseRiphabhulikhi yaseNingizimu Afrika (en:zu per Google Translate; requires confirmation by speaker of isiZulu)
- There exists a stub page Umongameli waseNingizimu Afrika (literally, [The] President of [the Republic of] South Africa), per ZU WP naming style
- Expanding the existing page might include sections: History / Role in Government / List of Presidents (link to "List of" page with Wikidata update feature)
- Possible list parameter: political party (I presume you considered and rejected this...?)
- Empty fields on the table indicate where content is lacking in Wikidata? - to add there, then manually initiate update to "List of..." page?
- At what point in your list page creation is text (e.g. column headings) substituted in isiZulu?
As with "Suggested list page name" (directly above), I can produce a draft translation to ZU which then requires confirmation by a native speaker. Your remarks on these considerations would be helpful, and I'll watch for your guidance on how I might help support this process. -- Deborahjay (talk) 07:01, 2 uNhlangulana 2018 (UTC)
- At Wikidata we do prefer lists like this one to be part of an article about the office. So no separate articles.
- When the dates of office are included, it is easy enough to add a party HOWEVER, people tend to switch from party to party and consequently I am not a fan.
- All the data is from Wikidata so when it gets updated there it becomes available in any Wikipedia that triggers daily updates for the ListeriaBot.
- With lists in the main space, the people involved become findable through search.
- These are lists of politicians, it is also possible to generate texts based on the Wikidata data. When this requested from zu.wikipedia I can see how this is done.

- These are helpful clarifications; I now have a better picture of the process. I can see the value of adding ZU labels and descriptions on Wikidata items ASAP. Your last point remains unclear, re: possible to generate texts based on the Wikidata data - Would this perhaps provide content for infobox fields in a Template:Politician to be adapted for the ZU WP and used on bio pages to be created here after the lists? -- Deborahjay (talk) 19:34, 2 uNhlangulana 2018 (UTC)
Single page for topic, with list as section[Hlela umthombo]
N.B.: Further to the above remarks on page vs. list per topic:
Aside from considerations of the length of the list table due to the size of images, it would be possible to retain your working page name, provide a ZU name before its move to mainspace, and make the list a section on that page, topped by a lead paragraph and the other sections I suggested above (History, Role in Government, etc.). Have you seen examples in other WPs suitable for use here? -- Deborahjay (talk) 07:26, 2 uNhlangulana 2018 (UTC)
- This has my preference. Thanks, GerardM (talk) 14:52, 2 uNhlangulana 2018 (UTC)
