Sesotho is spoken by 5000 people!? That explains a lot... It should be "neLesotho", I'm not so sure about the rest of the grammar. Zyxoas (reply on my en talk page).
And who the hell was translating the system messages on this Wikipedia!? This is sad... Zyxoas 22:46, 28 uJulayi 2006 (UTC)
- Millions = izigidi. Five million = izigidi ezihlanu. Will fix neLesotho... and yup, I'm getting round to the grammar on the system messages Joziboy 09:29, 29 uJulayi 2006 (UTC)
No man, I'm SURE isigidi is 1000! And does this look like my en talk page? The only thing they have in common is my pseudonym appearing somewhere in the text (and a quater of the messages are by you)... Zyxoas 17:38, 29 uJulayi 2006 (UTC)
Remember when I told you about verbs that are used with "and"? Well, ukufana is one of them. So it's "siyafana nesiTswana" not "siyafana isiTswana" (actually, "sifana nesiTswana" would sound a bit better), and you should probably use "isiPedi" for Northern Sesotho. Grammar lesson: reciprocal verbs (formed from other verbs by suffixing "-ana") and verbs derived from them are followed by "and" when they have an object. So, as I told you before, it's "ngithanda yena" and "ngithandana naye" (obviously "ngiyamuthanda" would be a more natural form of the first phrase). There are some non-reciprocal verbs which also use this form; contrast "ngikhuluma isiZulu" with "ngikhuluma ngesiZulu" ("I talk about isiZulu") and "ngikhuluma nawe" ("I talk with you"). Although nouns are considered very important in Kintu languages, the myriad forms and functions of verbs means that you need to take some time to master them. When all else fails, try Doke (good luck!). ISIGIDI IS 1000!!! Zyxoas 17:43, 30 uJulayi 2006 (UTC)
- Isigidi is a million; a thousand is inkulungwane, at least according to this dictionary Edricson 20:57, 29 uDisemba 2006 (UTC)
