Proposed page deletion

[Hlela umthombo]

A user page is not for use as a REDIRECT to another Wikipedia project, so the redirect was removed and rewritten as an interwiki link. The page now has no content. Please add useful content if it belongs to a User account. Thank you. -- Deborahjay (talk) 20:14, 19 uNhlaba 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If *this* is worth your time, given the desolate state of the isiZulu Wikipedia, "yeah, sure". YaguraStation (talk) 22:34, 19 uNhlaba 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edited to indicate redactions (see strikethrough and additional text, above).

I wrote the above before I had a better alternative, which I put in place - and you then undid. I regret not having written an explanation earlier which might have helped you realize the improvement to your page. I'm restoring that again, manually, and hope you will accept it as I'd already withdrawn the initial delete proposal to which you referred. As for the status of the ZU WP: It has no administrator and only a few native-speaker editors who are active only infrequently, so my daily contribution (since late July 2017) includes monitoring activity and performing maintenance as seems necessary, assisted by the sysops on the m:Small Wiki Monitoring Team. The main improvements involve categorizing and resolving red links. -- Deborahjay (talk) 19:18, 20 uNhlaba 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP activity in South Africa, specifically ZU

[Hlela umthombo]

Greetings, Reuben! It's great to see you've been going to the monthly Wikipedia meet-ups in Cape Town all this year. (I saw this just recently when Douglas Scott (User:Discott) sent me that page link.) Your being a tech-savvy person (per the link on your EN WP User page), you may find interesting what User:GerardM started recently in the Zulu WP: setting up drafts of list pages on leaders of African countries using Listeria to get content from Wikidata. See his User page for a linked table of draft pages by country. For my part, I'm pursuing a collaborative English-Zulu translation process with the goal of finding language resources in isiZulu and then in isiXhosa. Watch for further developments! -- Deborahjay (talk) 19:04, 4 uNhlangulana 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I welcome and respect your efforts and also support key points of your mail to the local listserv, which I will answer there. Have migrated my user page to meta:Global_user_pages. --YaguraStation (talk) 12:45, 9 uNhlangulana 2018 (UTC)[reply]
